Cost of Climate Change Policies

This map illustrates the potential costs, on a state-by-state basis, of pending legislation designed to cap greenhouse gas emissions. The analysis was completed by the Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), under contract from the American Council for Capital Formation and the National Association of Manufacturers (ACCF and NAM), using the National Energy Modeling System (NEMS); the same model employed by the US Energy Information Agency.

For each state, the increases in the prices of gasoline, natural gas, electricity and the reduction in household income and state gross domestic product are estimated for the years 2020 and 2030 using two scenarios, high cost and low cost.
